Our non-region schedule continues to be tough with Brainerd and Murfreesboro Siegel remaining on the schedule while adding Dobyns Bennett and Tyner. Then we get into the region schedule with 6 more very tough teams. We do not have a week that we can take off. We must come to play and win every Friday.
Q: How would you characterize this year’s team?
A: This year’s team will have good talent. They have worked hard in the weight room and on conditioning during the summer. We want to do everything fast: line up fast, play fast.
Q: Who will be key leaders on the team?
A: David Nobles (Sr. OT), Dalton Johnson (Sr. OG), Mike J. Williams (Sr. WR), Brody Binder (Sr. QB), Desmond Pittman (Sr. RB), David Strickland (Sr. DL), Jerimiah Jackson (So. LB), Alonzo Blackwell (Jr. LB), Edward Hayes (Jr. FS/WR), Anthony Turner (Jr. CB/WR)
Q: What can you build on from last year?
A: We did a great job on both sides of the ball always competing and doing what had to be done to win the ball game. We must continue fighting and grinding, doing whatever we can to win.
Q: What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A: We have good experience returning on offense. Our team speed will be good.
Q: Will we see anything different this year?
A: Offensively we will be more spread formations and will try to threaten the defense both on the ground and through the air. Defensively we are going from a 3-4 to a 4-3 scheme. Specials teams we will have two or three good return men. We’re working to be very sound in the kicking game as well.
